Class Descriptions

Foundations

Learn and practice the basics of yoga poses and breath awareness in a class format that skillfully balances effort and ease. Focus is given to proper alignment and form in essential yoga poses. We work on establishing a strong foundation through standing poses and abdominal strengthening while starting the exploration of breath work and basic meditation. This is a great introduction (or re-intro) to yoga practice. It is also a good preparation for more advanced work in flowing yoga. ALL LEVELS. 75 MINUTES

Anusara-Inspired® Level 1/2

Practice poses from the Anusara Yoga Level 1 & 2 Syllabi and explore asana through the radically affirmative Anusara Method and it’s Universal Principles of Alignment®. Each class is a structured as a learning practice which works safely and methodically toward a pinnacle pose such as advanced backbend, handstand, arm balance, headstand and more.  We playfully explore and prepare the body to learn the complex poses by breaking them down into their simpler more accessible component parts. Prepare to access your highest potential in body, mind, spirit, heart, creativity, and living with intention. Substantial practice in Foundations or and intermediate yoga practice are strongly recommended for this class.  INTERMEDIATE. 75 MINUTES

Vinyasa Flow

Tap into your natural rhythms and let your body follow! Continuously flowing yoga poses linked with practice of consistent, mindful breath. Concludes with restorative poses to balance your energy. Various Levels. 75 MINUTES

Chair Yoga

Regardless of age, activity level, or physical challenge, yoga is available to everybody. Chair Yoga offers the ability to improve your health through an amazing form of adaptive exercise. Using the support of the chair and the wall, you can receive yoga’s healing and restorative benefits. You will derive wonderful health benefits from practicing and implementing chair and supported yoga. ALL LEVELS. 75 MINUTES.

Yoga Lab

A dynamic power yoga flow class that incorporates new elements each week (from heated classes to essential oils, Thai yoga massage to partner work). Emphasis is placed on creating a strong physical practice in an environment conducive to turning inward. Overlay this environment with philosophy that helps you take yoga off the mat and into your everyday life and you have…. Yoga Lab.  Bring a towel and an open mind. INTERMEDIATE.  75 MINUTES

Powerful Yoga

This class is an awesome kick-off to your weekend! It is designed to help participants work to their potential – to find that balance between doing their best and doing their most. The goal of this class is to present movement and mindfulness simultaneously. The movements will challenge you to stay mindful, and your mindfulness will allow you to honor your limits without judging yourself. Come join us! INTERMEDIATE. 75 MINUTES

Restorative Yoga

Cool and soothe your nervous system naturally. Excellent as a pre-natal practice, therapy for chronic illness (chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, fibromyalgia, etc) or simply a well deserved gift to yourself of deep relaxation, physical release of tension. The passive practice of Restorative yoga lowers your body temperature and  is a profoundly restful sequence of nourishing postures, breathing techniques, and simple meditations. Yoga props such as bolster pillows, folded blankets, yoga straps, yoga blocks, and more support the body in moderately performed versions of the most beneficial yoga poses. It is predominantly practiced on the floor. Restorative Yoga provides an effective way to manage the effects of stress and maintain health and peace of mind. Reconnect, relax, renew, and restore yourself.  ALL LEVELS. 75 MINUTES

Mindfulness Meditation

Get back to the REAL you! Meditation guides us back to our essence and to a healthy relationship with the present moment. Within us all we have a capacity for dynamic, vital, sustaining inner peacefulness and well-being. It is not so easy to come to our senses without practice! Seated meditation practice is free for Yoga Birds students. And donation based for non-students. ALL LEVELS. 30 MINUTES

Apprentice Yoga

Free class taught by students in the Yoga Birds Teacher Training course. Style and level will vary. 60 MINUTES
